Eldon Ortman
President Board of Directors
Eldon Ortman is a retired Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) who spent over 30 years in the Agriculture, Manufacturing and Mining industries. He retired in 2021 after spending the last nine years of his career with K+S Potash Canada as Senior Corporate Controller and interim Chief Financial Officer. He served on the Briarwood Community Association Board of Directors from April 2013 to April 2022 and joined Cheshire Board of Directors in May 2022.
Don Klaassen

Don has been a resident representative on the Board of Directors since 1994. He moved to Cheshire Homes of Saskatoon after becoming a quadriplegic in a hockey injury, and began attending university. He graduated with his law degree in 2003 and since has worked as a lawyer for the federal government. Don has chaired the Policy and Nominating committees of the board, as well as the committee that worked on the development of the newest house at CHOS which opened in 2011.

Susan Knight

Susan Knight has worked in the disability community for over thirty years. Cheshire Homes of Saskatoon holds a special place in her heart having worked there between 1988 to 2000 where she maintained the Executive Director position in the last year. Susan continues to work in the disability community with visually impaired children. For eight years Susan volunteered with the Special Olympics coaching competitive swimming and now coaches with the Lasers Para Swim program.

Ahmad Majid
Member of the Board of Directors
is an Iraqi-Canadian community leader with over a decade of experience in the settlement sector, driven by a personal and professional commitment to supporting newcomers and refugees as they build new lives in Canada. He began his journey with the Saskatoon Open Door Society (SODS) as a volunteer in 2014, later serving as a Youth Employment Counsellor and Team Lead before advancing into senior leadership roles, including Executive Director of SAISIA, Saskatchewan’s provincial settlement sector umbrella organization, and HR & Employee Engagement Manager at the Saskatchewan Intercultural Association. He is now proud to return to SODS as the Fund Development and Communications Manager, leading strategic fundraising, partnerships, and community engagement efforts. Ahmad is also an experienced Master of Ceremonies, having hosted major events including provincial summits and diversity award galas, and is a spoken-word poet who uses storytelling to inspire and connect communities. Outside of his work, he is a proud father of three who values time spent outdoors with his children.
Jason Heisler

Jason grew up in Saskatoon, and after completing high school, he started in the trades. He has worked in the construction industry for over 26 years and is a Red Seal Journeyperson Carpenter, and a Gold Seal Certified Superintendent. He has overseen numerous projects throughout his career, ranging from small bathroom renovations to large scale renovations of a mall, and a campus library. Jason hopes his experience within the construction industry will bring Cheshire Homes an educated voice in his area of expertise.
Janine Possberg
Member of the Boards of Directors
Janine Possberg is a retired Occupational Therapist who practiced for 36 years in Saskatoon. She is an alumna of both the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Alberta. Her years as an Occupational Therapist included numerous staff and senior positions at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon City Hospital, Sherbrooke Community Centre and Samaritan Place. She worked in many practice areas - acute care, orthopedics, geriatrics, rehabilitation medicine, and long term care. Janine served as a board member for the Society of Occupational Therapists and the RUH Child Care Society. In retirement she enjoys volunteer work with Canadian Blood Services and Ukrainian Patriot. She joined Cheshire Homes as a board member in 2025.
